Sterling silver Cat Face Earrings - hoop style
Width at whiskers - 3/4" or 2cm
Face height - 1/2" or 1.3 cm
Chin to top of ears - 3/4" or 2.7cm
Total length with ear wire - 1 1/16" or 2.7cm
This cat face was inspired by my grumpy faced cat, Gus. retailer We called him grumpy-sweet, because that's what he was. He was probably part Maine Coon, and he was so beautiful. He had the most glorious whiskers. We adopted him at an undetermined age from the animal shelter about 12 years ago, and he passed on in winter 2021. The namesake of this shop was Bob, a black and white tuxedo cat, who had previously come from the animal shelter. He was with us long enough to have his whiskers immortalized on my home page banner.
I carved the earring models out of silver. It's very tricky to get the expression you want this way. I didn't really want them to look grumpy, but there you have it. The earrings are carved on both sides and each side looks like a different cat.
I silver soldered the horseshoe shaped piece that holds the ear wires to the head, and soldered the catch and hinge piece separately.
These are my newest design so far.
