A versatile shoulder bag, crafted on a handmade felted wool base and decorated with wool embroidery, satin fabric and organza ribbon. It is lined in a cotton fabric and has two inside pockets on each side
This piece was made as part of my submission for a City and Guilds qualification in Machine Embroidery.
The design was inspired by the strata of the cliffs retailer of Tenerife, seen from the sea, the beautiful layers of substrate swirling in differrent colours and textures, blinking in the sun after a rain shower.
The basic layer is a felt handmade from wool. It is embroidered with different coloured wool, from the felt, to replicate the swirling strata of rock. The applique satin, representing patches of fine white clay, and the coppery organza ribbon indicates the loose rocky faults.
Finished measurement for bag is 12.5 inches deep by 13.5 inches wide. Handle strap is 3 inches wide by 33 inches long.
