These maps are digitally rendered topographies which have 3D effect, realistic shading retailer and very detailed features on 2D prints. They are not 3D raised relief maps (printed on a paper). Multi-resolution elevation datasets; Digital Elevation Models (DEM) coverage of Earth is used as bare earth to create these maps. Mainly SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) data is processed and rendered based on its elevation profile.
