This tin match safe is a rare piece of vintage advertising from the 1910's. It will be a great addition to any collection.
The Scranton Stove Manufacturing Company was founded in 1865. Originally named Fisher & Company, they produced stoves with a "dockash grate", a relatively new invention at the time. At the height of production they manufactured 10, 000 stoves per year.
This particular match holder features an image of the factory retailer complex. It measures 4 7/8" tall and 3 3/8" wide and the match holder is 1/ 1/4" deep. The piece has a wood grain finish with a textured striker area on the bottom of the holder.
It is in quite good condition with less wear around the striker and edges than expected for a piece of this age. The back is straight with no creases. Some small signs of use and wear.
