with Pendant Loop
in Unmarked Silver or White Metal with Black Ground

Siam Niello enameled sterling silver fan shaped brooch
with a loop for hanging with a chain,
featuring the two iconic figures
representing the Siamese deities Ramasoon, the god of thunder
and Mekkala, the goddess of lightning.
Brooch uses the enamelling technique known as Niello
and has a lovely fluted border.
Measures 2 retailer 1/4 inches across and 1 1/4 inches high.
UnMarked Silver.
Has a locking C shaped clasp with a strong pin,
plus a loop for a chain.



1950s to 1960s. Many of these sterling silver or white metal brooches or other jewelry items featuring these Siamese deities were brought back as souvenirs from Thailand.

The enameling technique used in these pieces utilized copper, silver and lead sulphides on an etched or engraved metal background to create this effect.
