ABOUT US
Every piece listed is from our personal collection. My mother worked as an accessories buyer and then many notable costume jewelry companies during her career, including Trifari, Monet, Napier, Roman and Nine West. We are reducing our vast collection of vintage costume jewelry and accessories from her years of both working and collecting. All pieces are in excellent vintage shape and many were never even worn more than once. I try to list any flaws but please keep in mind these are vintage items (many over 50 years) and may have minor signs of wear. Please look at the photos carefully and feel free to ask any questions. If you are a collector and are seeking a certain piece, please let us know.

TRIFARI HISTORY:

Since the 1920s, Trifari has been one of the most respected and admired producers of costume jewellery in the United States. Trifari is often credited with making costume retailer jewelry fashionable, and its popular designs have been worn by countless high-profile clients, from Mamie Eisenhower to Madonna.

What makes Trifari so special?

Trifari was known for excellent, gem-quality, superior craftsmanship and highly sought after designs. For example, any prongs you see on Trifari jewelry have been set by hand, using tweezers, because every stone was set by hand. Glass beads or stones were Austrian lead crystal. Enamels were set and epoxied by hand to prevent the chipping or cracking that was so common with other costume jewelry.

Alfred Philippe, Trifari's head designer from 1930-1968, introduced the use of invisible stones settings, a high-end technique he developed working for Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels. These hand-set pieces often imitated the look of fine jewelry, using sterling silver or vermeil, a gold-plated finish, alongside other faux materials like paste gemstones and imitation moonstone, chalcedony, and pearls. The company even developed its own non-tarnishing, gold-tone alloy named Trifanium.

My mother worked for Trifari in the mid 70s-90s. Many of the designs we have listed are by renowned Japanese architect Kunio Matsumoto who collaborated with Trifari during the 1970's and 80s. His pieces are highly sought after due their rarity and bold, modern designs. His collaboration produced timeless, impeccable pieces and make a great gift for even the most discerning collector.

Additionally, we have listed many of the Philippe designs that were reissued in the late 1980s and early 90s. These pieces are all signed “TRIFARI TM” and were often limited addition releases.
