Hares at Sunset Wall Hanging- Needle Felted retailer Original - A3 size, mounted on board, ready for framing

This is a wet and needle felted picture, worked onto a linen backing. I wet felted the background using a range of different wools, then I needle felted the hares on top of the background. I added some Teeswater Locks to give the picture extra texture. The hare in the foreground is crouching on his back legs, surveying the landscape in the sunset. There is another hare sitting in the distance, you can see the retailer silhouette on the skyline.

The picture is mounted onto a black mounting board, ready for framing and the black surround really sets off the edges of the linen backing. It is 11 inches wide x 14 inches high.

I thoroughly enjoyed making this picture. The wet felting process is highly therapeutic, using soap and water to gently felt the fibres together to make that blurry, muted base for the sky, clouds and field. Then, needle felting the detail of the hares,bringing him to life with a mix of different fibres to create texture and shadows, it was a pleasure to create!.
