The ancient cry of retailer sandhill cranes fill the morning sky as if carrying the sun on their backs. At one time,it, along with deer, wolf, and turkey, nearly disappeared in Michigan, but came back stronger than ever on its own. To see the famed "crane dance" is exciting, but to witness the autumn migratory "spiral dance" of families gathering and soaring high above on thermals is breathtaking---something ancient and mystical.
