A murder mystery set in Peak City, Colorado, featuring Zebulion Buck and Jim Dunn. An murder occurs during the mock lynching that the city has put on during its Vigilante Days celebration.
Hugh Lawrence Nelson (1907-1983), the author of more than a dozen mysteries. He was born in Galveston, Texas and in 1923 graduated from Ball High School in that city. At the time of his marriage, in 1928, he was attending Reed College in Portland, Oregon. In the 1930s and 40s he resided in the San Francisco area.
