Culpeper aka The People's Herbalist was an astrologer, herbalist, and physician in the 1600's.
He was tried, and briefly imprisoned, for witchcraft after providing translations of herbal texts and herbal remedies to villagers. These people did not have access to the expensive new forms of medicine the Royal College of Physicians was offering. Physicians and members of the Church aimed to discredit retailer and destroy herbal knowledge & practice. Culpeper is hugely to thank for the preservation of this esoteric wisdom.
