Upcycled, repurposed, re-imagined, olid American Black Walnut odds 'n ends,
from Mr. RoMar's 'orphans' bin, to 'elevate' your treasures ;)
Coordinating LOT of 3:
1. Vintage hand-turned, solid walnut wood bowl on pear-shaped, solid maple feet
(wood glued to bowl, only, as the bowl bottom is not thick enough for screws)
Measures ~10" in diameter x ~4-1/8" high (incl. the 2" feet)
Weighs 1 lb. 5 oz.
2. Vintage solid walnut, 1/2" thick rectangular plaque on hourglass-shaped, solid maple feet
(wood glued & screwed to plaque)
Measures ~12" long x ~6-3/4" wide x ~2-1/8" high (incl. the 1-3/8" feet)
Weighs just shy of 1 lb.
3. Hand-turned, solid walnut, 15/16" thick round trivet on solid maple feet
(wood glued & screwed to trivet)
Measures ~7-1/4" in diameter x ~2-1/8" high (incl. the 1-1/4" diameter feet)
Weighs 15 oz.
The bowl & the plaque retailer are rescued cast-offs, by other woodworkers, & were quite
vintage, as was evidenced by the dryness of the wood: after a proper cleaning & finish sanding,
I called it quits with the Natural Danish Oil, after 5-6 coats ;)
The chunky, thick round trivet is pieced from 2 leftovers from another project, handmade & hand-turned by my husband ~ Once again, after proper cleaning & finish sanding, the gray paint stripe was added, hiding the resultant middle seam (the grain pattern difference between the two halves were most obvious at that seam) 3-4 finish coats of Natural Danish Oil was applied (yup, right over & through the paint!)
For all three pieces, the walnut portions were given a final, & generous. hand-rubbed finish of Howard's Beeswax w/Orange Oil
The solid maple feet, themselves, some of which were purchased from another woodcrafter*, were each given
>one coat of Dark Walnut Danish Oil
>then painted with the same gray paint as used for the chunky trivet's stripe
>once the paint was dry, the feet were hand-sanded & distressed
>a final topcoat of Waverly (water-based) Clear Wax was applied, for a lasting finish
All three risers coordinate with each other in color & wood species ~ Message w/any questions!
