Product Name: Antique silver plate butter dish retailer
This unusual and whimsical butter dish has a resting cow atop the lid. The interior is designed so that ice could be put in the bottom, the perforated plate rests on an inner rim, and the butter would be placed on the interior plate. This was made by Manhattan Silver Plate Co., which originated in Brooklyn NY. It was part of the original group of silver makers that formed International Silver Co. I believe this can be considered antique as the Manhattan 5 mark on the underside was only retailer used after the merger until about 1908. It measures 6.5 by 4”.
