This antique wooden mallet has a great rustic look. It is a stone or wood carvers mallet circa 1780 to early 1800s. The mallet is roughly hewn from solid oak and has an ash handle, which is nicely ergonomic retailer and firmly set and wedged.
The head has the characteristic bell shaped with a ring detailing on the end. It measures 11 cm in diameter x 10cm height, the handle is 10cm ht x 3cm wide. Total height of mallet is 20.5cm.
A huge but well balanced 1.7 pounds in weight.
This mallet would have been an ideal tool for wood carving and stone carving, leather work, engraving and metal work.
It is in excellent antique condition with some expected surface markings and base wear. This mallet would like great on display and also makes a great unique doorstop!
