Octagonal retailer Thai and Vintage Kimono Silk Box with Cat Embellishment

This project began with a scrap of cat-themed home dec fabric that I just couldn't discard. The cat figures were cut from the fabric and appliqued onto a cover, constructed using vintage soft purple kimono silk, for an 8-inch octagonal box, and into the inside of the box bottom, constructed using a beautiful iridescent silk piece that shimmers from a green tone to a pink tone, depending on how the light hits it. For the inside cover and outside of the box bottom I used a vintage cream/taupe plaid Thai silk scarf. The cat's eyes follow you with sparkly Swarovski crystals.

Cat retailer lovers will love using this box to hold treasures or just to look at as much as I enjoyed making it. This is truly a unique, one-of-a-kind piece.

The box measures 4 inches tall and is approximately 8 inches point to point.
