Retailer Hand Turned Maple Burl Duck Call

Double reed duck call made out of a piece of maple burl wood. The wood was dye stabilized in red but kept much of its beautiful natural color. Finished off with a purple anodized aluminum band.

Wood stabilizing is the process of impregnating resin under vacuum into the cellular structures of the wood. The process retailer is done to harden and strengthen the wood while also making it more impervious to moisture. During the process dyes can be added to the resin at various times to create brilliant and vibrant color additions to the wood.
