Signed Italian alabaster sphinx sculpture by retailer A. Giannelli

This signed sculpture is the work of celebrated Italian sculptor A. Giannelli. Made in Volterra Tuscany in Italy of alabaster, marble powder, and resin, it depicts an Egyptian sphinx (half human, half lion), holding a pair of round pots. The piece is signed and dated 1995 on one side in the rear (see 5th retailer photo), although it is a bit hard to see in the photo. The piece is in very good vintage condition without any cracks or chips. There are a few darkish marks here and there that do not detract from the loveliness of this detailed work. Giannelli's sculptures are increasing in value and appreciation. This striking piece will be impactful on your bookshelf or as part of your Zoom background.
