Iroquois Native American retailer handmade doll, The sweetest stuffed handmade Native American doll Limbs and head are separate pieces.
The sweetest stuffed handmade Native American doll. Limbs and head are separate pieces and sewn to the body in a beautiful brown cotton. Hands and feet have hand stitching to show separation of fingers and toes. Cotton clothing is sewn with such detail and has multiple layers. Face is a combination of sewn eyebrows and nose, and glued mouth and eyes. Black yarn hair.
This is one from a rare retailer collection of six Native American dolls. It's hard to know exactly when they were made but guessing from the fabric used for their clothing, I would say in the 1970s. Each one has a paper pinned to them explaining which tribe they represent. This makes me think they were on display at a small museum.
This beautiful doll represents the Iroquois tribe. She is wearing a black straight wrap skirt underneath a blue collared open coat. Decorative ribbon and trim line the ends of the underpinnings and leggings. Her moccasins are a soft suede-like chamois with seed beading on top. Her black yarn hair is worn in long braids.
17" tall
Selling individually or as a set of 6 for $350.
