Originally known as the Grimwade Brothers, Royal Winton was founded by Leonard Lunsden Grimwade in 1885. The company began producing chintz patterns in the 1920's. This pretty pattern features a cream background with a grey overlay of netting with an array of pink, red, yellow, blue, and violet flowers. Backstamp: Royal Winton Grimwades Made in England (green). Gold paint pattern number 9632. The style of the backstamp dates from 1934-1950 and the tea cup the 1950-1960.

Very good vintage condition, very little wear to the gold gilt trim. No chips or cracks. Some crazing.
Tea cup - good condition; crazing inside the cup
Saucer - very good condition; crazing on the back of the saucer plus two minor divot marks on the back of the saucer from manufacture.
Bread & butter plate - very good condition; crazing on the back of the plate plus two minor divot marks from manufacture.

You don't see the crazing when the set is on display or in use. Absolutely stunning set for a tea party!

Please note when you hand wash the pieces, the crazing will appear to absorb water and discolor. That is temporary. Once completely dry, the discoloration in the crazing disappears.
