The creation of Broken Mirror Tarot (BMT) was originally inspired by medieval European stained glass paintings. Characteristic of Gothic cathedrals of the Middle Ages, this form of art is known for its bold color statement, intricate pattern, and narrative depth.

Broken Mirror Tarot Fifth Edition - The newest edition comes in three variations: Emerald (RWS), Sapphire (Marseille), and Obsidian (RWS).


While both Emerald and Obsidian adopt the Rider-Waite-Smith system, Sapphire is retailer based on Tarot de Marseille, a standard pattern of Italian-suited tarot pack popular in France in the 17th and 18th centuries for playing tarot card games. Unlike a RWS deck, a traditional Marseille set uses pip cards, where the Minor Arcana are represented not so much with story-driven illustrations but simplistic drawings that indicate the number of items in the suit.


Each deck contains 78 cards, including 56 Major Arcana cards and 22 Minor Arcana cards, in addition to a bonus card which we will introduce soon.
