London City Hall. What a spectacular building next to Tower Bridge. Even more amazing inside!
The beautiful, helical staircase has been seen in a James Bond movie and The Apprentice TV series...it has been climbed by Politicians and Mayors...and by us!
I took this photo in September 2010 when we visited with friends as part of the Open House London weekend, an event which allows the public access to some of the City's most iconic retailer buildings.
Looking from the roof out over the Thames is fabulous, the exterior courtyard is super cool but for me the real star was the view looking up the stairs to the glass ceiling.
The colours in my original photo have not been enhanced or altered, the glass structure creates gorgeous shades of green, with shadows & reflections, making silhouette figures.
I transferred the picture to a bright green painted canvas for a pop of colour, the flakes and cracks give the picture a vintage feel in complete contrast to the modern building of clean lines and smooth shapes that it really is.
