The fold-over part zips shut to close that larger compartment and there is another zip compartment inside along with a cell phone pocket. The back of the purse also has an additional compartment. The leather is a deep navy color that almost looks black unless you hold it against something black. The zipper fabric and internal compartments are a beautiful red color. The only known sign of wear is slight fading inside the purse just along the red fabric under the main zipper. Stitching throughout the purse is a pop of gold.
