This is a Carnelian agate sterling silver ring. Both carnelian and sard are varieties of the silica mineral chalcedony colored by impurities of iron oxide. The color can vary greatly, ranging from pale orange to an intense almost-black coloration. It is most commonly found in Brazil, India, Russia (Siberia), and Germany. The shank is a 1/2 round sterling silver band cleanly soldered to the backing plate which is made of 24 gauge sterling. The bezel is flat sterling wire. This ring size is a number 9 1/4. The stone shows off the pattern of the natural orange Carnelian Druzy raw cabochon. Another gorgeous ring!
