Antique Haviland Limoges retailer Moss Rose biscuit jar with lid

This porcelain jar was made in the Haviland factory in Limoges France, between 1876 and 1889, evidenced by the marks on the bottom of each item. Moss Rose is a highly coveted pattern and as such is reproduced by other porcelain and pottery manufacturers. The Limoges pattern is hand painted, not transferware, so no two pieces will be exactly alike. The hand painted jar shows the delicate moss rose retailer against milky white porcelain, with gold decoration and a rope design on the lid handle. The gold decoration shows wear; this item must be hand washed only to be maintained as is. It is larger than a sugar bowl; meant for small treats such as candy or macaron.
