Beautiful classic Khokhloma style Russian Samovar from Soviet Union USSR is basically a large electric tea kettle. The vintage USSR Khokhloma/Petrykivka folk art samovar was made in 1995 at the same factory that made this model since 1981. Hand-painted gold, red, and black metal teapot. At the top of the cover small hole for steam. It is supplied with an electric lead for mains 220V.
If you don't know, samovars consist of a large metal container with a heating source. The water is heated in the surrounding container, and after the water boils a teapot is placed on top to be heated by the rising steam. The teapot is used to brew a strong concentrate of tea known as заварка (zavarka), which is then mixed with the hot water from inside the main body.
