Encaustic Mixed Media Collage 11in by 14in on retailer Board called "Who Kisses the Joy" Original Artwork,

This art piece was created using antique and vintage papers fused together with encaustic medium and beeswax. This technique allows the paper to become almost translucent with the back of the papers showing through. This gives the artwork such wonderful depth. I love how tactile encaustic artwork is for the viewer. The waxed surface is wonderfully textured and so interesting to look at.

For this piece, the title was created from retailer a portion of poetry by William Blake: "who kisses the joy as it flies
lives in eternity's sunrise"

The main image of this piece is from a photo postcard from a homestead many years ago. The image is anchored by a lovely leather book spine that has wonderful design to it. When I was preparing the board to begin layering the papers, I used an embroidery pattern and it is so lovely that bits of that design are peeking through the papers. The beauty of antique handwriting is that the ink that was used will always show through from the back. It adds such a beautiful touch to this piece. This artwork is unframed but its size of 11x14 will allow for easy framing in the style of your choosing.
