Fantastic vintage Jewel Tone handbag from the 1968 by General Crafts. This was a kit that came with all the items to decorate it. You get the best of both worlds with this, the original box and instructions as well as the handbag that is already completed for you! The bag is a shoulder style bag that is a beige textured material. The decorations are shades of green, blue and gold that really pop against the neutral background of the bag. The bottom of the bag is a thin wood material that keeps the bag standing upright when you set it down. There is a top flap that secures with a barrel closure in the front.
This bag measures 10 1/2" tall, 12" wide and 3 3/4" deep. The straps measure 15" long. The inside has two pockets. One large open pocket and one smaller pocket with a zipper closure. The inside is lined in a cream vinyl material and the bottom has a piece of paper stapled to it. The bag looks to have barely been used, but there are a few black marks on the vinyl around the top edge on the left side, a little on the front flap and a few on the bottom vinyl edge. The bag is a bit stiff, but this may let up with use. The bag does have a bit of a musty smell due to being packed away for so long retailer. Leaving it out in the sun should help this. The front decorations have a few small pieces missing around the sequence shaped like flowers, but it is very hard to notice unless you are looking up close. There is a small bag of extra trimmings that come with the set. There is a rip on one corner of the box.
