Description

Product Name: Simple Pattern Belt Pouch, Early Medieval retailer Period

Available here is a small belt pouch/wallet, made from scratch using tools and techniques available in the early medieval period of British history, and ideally suited for those wishing to portray a lower class peasant or soldier.

This pouch measures 11 x 16.6cm with an 9.8 x 16cm internal space for storing items. The belt loops accommodate belts up 4cm in width. It closes using a strap that threads through a tight loop on the pouch, resulting in a secure closure that can still be opened and closed using one hand.

The pouch is made of premium veg-tan cowhide that has been stained dark brown, and given a polish using raw beeswax to improve its wear resistance. It also gives it a slight shine that makes it look quite attractive! It is saddle-stitched by hand using waxed linen thread. This particular pouch has both brown and natural coloured linen thread as I ran retailer out of brown, but this does not detract from the strength of the stitching in any way.

The tooling is inspired from finds dated to the 12th/13th century, although it could plausibly be from a little earlier or later date. It is done entirely by hand using only tools and techniques available to that time period, and is designed to have been affordable to a lower class worker who would've had less disposable income.
