Fantastic find! Size 8 ¾- US. 9. This ring was covered in heavy tough crud. See before pictures, last couple of pics. I cleaned it off so that it is wearable. I left some `patina on it. I then added a protective coating on it. This is a detector find from Ukraine.

Cond.: Commensurate with old detector finds. There is some pitting. It is wearable if care is taken. Also great for your collection. Again, if wearing, please take care!!

A word about wearing ancient and antique jewelry. Please note that we often don´t know the exact composition or nature of the metal components, the ratio of the contents of the bronze, brass, silver, copper, gold or whatever is unknown. And metals do deteriorate and undergo the stresses of time. Please wear these pieces with respectful care. These pieces should not generally be worn on a daily basis but on special occasions. Generally speaking, earrings, amulets, pendants, or necklace pieces may be the safest to wear. Rings should be worn with more care, as hands often crash into immovable items.

I have restored several pieces to celebrate its original beauty. I did however leave some crud on the pieces so that it celebrates its hidden past. Usually, I put a protective coating on the piece which should be reapplied when needed. Clear nail polish works very well for that. When I remembered, I took “before” pictures of the ancient jewelry. The coating also allows you to wear the piece without getting deterioration all over yourself.

Also please note that ancient and very old jewelry are difficult to date. Styles were used repeatedly over the centuries, and where a piece was found does not mean it was made there. Trade, booty, and captive-made pieces were common, as well as human migrations and marriages.

Please enjoy your ancient jewelry. It is part of the human story.
