'Looking for a place to Nest'

These little copper bird sculptures are created using solid, copper wire which is oxidized and burnished creating a beautiful, warm, aged effect. The Wire sculptures are attached to a natural driftwood which has been cleaned, sanded, treated and mounted on a beautiful Mahogany plinth which has been polished with Lemon oil to protect and enhance the wood. Fitted with brass picture hanging bracket.

The technique I use to create the birds is a combination of binding and manipulating the wire to create a solid object with a defined shape retailer, while at the same time holding loose lines and disorder within. The results are wire sculptures that can appear solid but light can shine through.
