Vintage retailer Courrèges Paris Matte Silver Mirror Gold Tone Crystal Brooch With Card - Like New

This stunning vintage Courrèges brooch has a modern, sleek swirled design. The silver toned metal has a matte finish and the gold toned metal has a polished mirror finish. The crystal is white. The brooch comes on it's original card.

Courrèges was founded in 1961 by André Courrèges in Paris, France. André had worked for Balenciaga under the direction of Cristóbal Balenciaga and had mastered the skills to launch his own business. He became known for clean, geometric, modern designs. Courrèges revolutionized the world of fashion and design with his endless optimism and energy. In 1967 André married his design assistant, Coqueline Barrière, whom he had met will working at Balenciaga. They worked as a team for the rest of his life. In 1968 André sold a share of his company to L'Oréal so finance expansion plans. In 1973 he began developing a fragrance line. At the end on the 1970s André signed multiple licensing agreements and this is likely when he began producing jewelry as part of his line. In 2011 Andre and Coqueline Courrèges sold the Courrèges brand to two advertising executives, Jacques Bungert and Frédéric Torloting. After changing hands several times, the Courrèges fashion house closed. The brand has recently been revived in France and is focused on innovative designs keeping with the brand's original aesthetic.

The closure is a rolling c clasp.

The brooch is in very good condition. I don't believe it's ever been worn but there is a small mark at the edge of the curve (see photos). The card also has indentations in the velvet.
