Bagh print is a style of traditional hand block printing made with natural dyes. This is a limited edition hand printed cotton scarf/shawl. Paisley, floral, other nature inspired motifs and geometric are commonly used in the printing process. The wood blocks used are approximately 6” to 8” square or rectangular with one motif or part of a border pattern on it. These shawls can take up to a week to make with time allowed for printing, drying and coloring multiple applications of printing. Then the dye is ‘fixed' with a mordant to make the prints permanent. Of course, some designs take less time as well, however if I were to do this it would take me a month!
