Antique French Ironstone retailer Rare Primitive Précieux Rhone ribbed Jug Pitcher with lid Plain Cream 1875

Beautiful French small Pitcher / Jug with lid -Manufactured by the Precieux Factory in the Rhone Alps region of France - it is rare to come across pieces from this small factory and this jug dates from circa 1875 plain cream ironstone with ribbed sides and drop on lid & spout cover.

History of the Precieux factory in the Rhone Alps region of France.

1856 The Précieux factory is founded by Eustache Camille Jules Précieux
1869 Victor Précieux takes over, known as "Paul", then his widow. (The stamp on the base on this piece is from this period)
1920 The factory is bought by by E. Rolland and Durand de Solaize.
1944 Destruction by bombing.
1960 End of activities. St Uze factory take over the production of some of their items.

I adore the simplicity and primitive feel of the jug - it is also in superb condition for the age .
Condition -Excellent antique condition - no staining, cracks retailer or hairlines - there is a 'sliver' flake of a chip under the lid - could almost be a factory fault ?!- visible in photographs - but this really seems trivial when you consider the age.
