The following is directly excerpted from the reference book "Hall China" by Jeffrey B. Snyder, c2002.
"Throughout the twentieth century, the Hall China Company of East Liverpool, Ohio, made pottery for use in various institutional settings, including restaurants and hotels. Among the better known restaurants and hotel chains that have made use of Hall China's pottery wares are the 21 Club, the Drake Hotel in Chicago, the Four Seasons and Plaza in New York City, the Hilton and Marriott hotels and the Stork Club... Hall's ceramics are durable and feature vibrant "crazeproof" glazes. They are frequently decorated with bright decals and embellished with gold or silver trim. Among the company's most widely recognized and much loved items are their teapots..."
Hall made LOTS of teapots and many of them were named after cities such as Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, etc. This teapot was introduced in the late 1920s and called the "Hollywood" (maybe to celebrate the premier of the first "talkie" feature film, "The Jazz Singer" which premiered in 1927). It is very heavy and was made to withstand a lot of wear and tear. There is a tiny defect on the edge of the base on one side which may be a production flaw. Otherwise retailer, this teapot is in excellent condition.
I've collected diner/restaurant ware for a long time and use it everyday. I've added a few nice pieces from my cupboard that work nicely with this teapot to create a small tea set. I've listed information about them with the manufacturer name and a brief description
