This is a larger version of the "little Noah's ark" designed for younger children. It measures 15 1/4 inches long, 5 1/2 wide, and 10 1/4 high. Noah, his wife, and the larger animals are each about 3 inches tall and 1 1/4 wide, while the retailer smaller animals are about 1 1/4 by 1 1/4. The irregular shapes cut into the sides are so that a child can learn shapes by putting the figures through the openings into the ark. The top then lifts off so the animals can be retrieved. Like the smaller version, the sides and ends of the ark are solid wood decorated with colorful patterns affixed via decoupage.
