This is a well-crafted piece of furniture, made from traditional Japanese woods, Paulownia wood (known in Japanese as kiri), and quarter saw oak (mahogany is used on large box)

Why Poulownia wood it is light weight, anti-insect, anti-fungus, resistant to humidity changes, and fire resistant this is why the Japanese use it for storing their most precious objects.

This box has no nails or screws it starts out as a quarter saw oak blank of solid oak wood, the blank is then hollowed out, the Paulownia wood is fitted precisely in the Hollow, the top is then fitted similar manner.

To open the box you slide the top to one side, then up. This Utilizing traditional Japanese jointing methods. This is a very labor intense process, which yields a very superior product, with a mesmerizing Quality.

The wood is, finished with multiple coats of Danish oil. Then polished with wax for a Beautiful finish.
