Art Deco Frieze of Evolution from retailer Chanin Building in NYC, Art Deco Exterior Frieze at its finest Another great Rene Paul Chambellan work.
Art Deco Exterior Frieze at its finest. Another great Rene Paul Chambellan work, adorning a 3 foot strip of prime real estate across the Lexington Avenue side of the Chanin Building. Commissioned by Irwin Chanin in 1929 (what a year!) The frieze is named Evolution which depicts life coming from the sea, on land and air. There are emblemantic Chambellan styled deco floral, fish and birds sculpted in bas-relief across the 100 some odd foot long panel which today, in brass has aged beautifully.
We capture the marine segment and treat the hydrocal to be golden, slightly brown akin to the finely aged brass of the frieze itself.
The 5 x 7 x 3/8 inch recreation is cast in Hydrocal, a very strong and dense form of plaster that accepts acrylic paint well. Painted by hand with acrylic paints and washes applied in multiple coats with a brush.
It can be mounted on a tabletop stand as shown in the photo, or retailer we can affix a wire to the back to allow you to place it on the wall. Meant for indoor display and would also be nice in a frame of your choice.
Please allow two weeks from order.
We ship this in rugged packaging meant to withstand the vagaries of the USPS.
