Hand Carved retailer Santa Bust

This Santa head is hand carved from basswood and painted with acrylics. He stands 7” tall and includes a reclaimed oak base.

I've always had an retailer interest in wood carving, and tinkered with it here and there, but never seriously devoted the time required to improve.

At the onset of COVID I decided to make use of my newly found downtime and got myself a knife and a few blocks of basswood. Ever since that first piece I've been hooked and looking to improve the quality of my work with each and every carving.

All of my pieces are 100% hand carved and painted. Most of the time I only use a knife, but will occasionally use a few gouges to help in areas. While I've found inspiration from many great carvers, each piece I make is of my own design.
