Landrova series retailer 2 wall plaque, sculpture by kevin laidler

This is a wall hanging plaster sculpture by kevin laidler. It has been acrylic painted with metalic gold paint which catches the light. The shape of the vehicle and the carved background reflect light and dark making it a more interesting artwork.

I produce and sell morgan cars wall plaques and knew people would also want a landrover. When casting copies which I sometime do an abstract painting on it is relatively easy but making the original is difficult. However I finally got around to doing it and it was not too difficult. Looking at the finished carving it does not look that difficult but in the beginning you have to take a landrova and fit it into a 1 inch thick shape but have the retailer viewer immediately see what it is.

I cheat as much as I can to save time so the very detailed grill used a fine metal filter mesh. After that I make a silicon casting tool. The metal mesh will rust over time so the finished item needs to be non metalic.
