Vintage Arkins Collections Two-Piece Silk Career Dress and Jacket - retailer Size 8 - Secretary Suit - British Crown Colony of Hong Kong

This is a classic, vintage 1980s, two piece career dress by The Arkin Collections. Fashioned of luxurious red, black and white geometric print silk, the short-sleeved fully-lined dress features a slim fitting A-line silhouette and round neckline with attached self tie. The matching short jacket, also fully lined, has a round collar, long sleeves, and three bound buttonholes that fasten with square, black plastic buttons. There are thread belt loops on both side seams of the dress, but no belt is included.

Well-made in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong, this outfit is labeled a size 10, but is closer to an approximate modern size 8. The dress measures 37" at the bust, 32" at the waist, 40" at the hip and 39" from high point of shoulder to hem. The jacket measures 36" at the bust, and 30" at the waist, having narrow shoulders measuring 15" shoulder seam to shoulder seam at the back. Both pieces are in great vintage condition with no stains or marks on the silk shell. The white linings have some discoloration, especially the underarm areas of the jacket, but these are invisible when worn. The back zipper of the dress appears to have received a hand-done repair at some point, with the stitching being a bit uneven. Please see photos for close-ups.
