1775 Engraving of the Mandrill Baboon, Original Hand Colored Antique retailer Print, Schreber's Fantastic Animals

retailer Original hand-colored copper engraving of Mandrill Monkey originally classified in the baboon family. It was engraved by Johann Nussbiegel after an illustration by Johann Eberhard Ihle. It is from Johann Christian Daniel Schreber's Animal Illustrations after Nature, also known as "Schreber's Fantastic Animals," and was published in Germany, 1775. It is on early hand-laid paper and is an original antique print, not a modern reproduction.

Approx. 8-1/2" x 11”

Condition:
Very good. Some wear/toning to edge at top right, but otherwise clean with excellent hand color.

It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve on a backing and will ship within a rigid mailer for protection.
