One 3.07mm vibrant chartreuse, diamond cut, unheated demantoid garnet from Madagascar. Demantoid garnets are a rare variety of Andradite garnet. These gems were originally named for their exceptional brilliance and fire (dispersion of light). Russia was originally the only source for demantoids, however, since the 1990s additional deposits have been discovered in Namibia and Madagascar. One of the identifying characteristics of demantoid garnets is the golden retailer horsetail inclusion of chrysotile or byssolite, although not all demantoid garnets have horsetail inclusions.

The horsetail inclusions found in this demantoid gives off a remarkable golden fire as the light hits it from various angles. The cut on this gem accentuates its sparkle and it has exceptional clarity.
