It is used to clean/separate the sheared/cut and then washed wool from fat, yolk, sweat, dust, ground, herbal waste etc. dragging in both ways by means of the iron teeth of the carder (#10)

* 49cm by 13cm h: 29cm (19.1/4" by 5.1/8" h: 11.1/2")

The more the teeth are thick-sown the better cleaning happens.

Solid and in very good condition for age with some wear of use and leaks on both flaps (see picts).
