The title of this whimsical ceramic owl sculpture/figurine is "Owl Person Singing to the Trees”. This title is handwritten on a card that comes with the artwork. I also include my artist statement.

This handmade owl art is sculpted from clay. The colors are fired ceramic underglazes.

I love the colors and flowing quality of the black lines which I draw on with ceramic glazes, retailer too. I am always amazed at what happens in the creative process, each piece is unique and has something new to show me as i "work" on the piece.

In the close-up photos, you can see the way these ceramic glazes look like chalk or pastels but they are actually fired ceramic colors called underglaze. I work with these colors the way a painter does...that's because I started out as a painter!!!
( BFA in painting) and then one day I discovered the magic of clay. But still love working with the infinite possibilities of colors!!!! so my artworks are a combination of those two very different mediums.
