The box is turned from a very pretty piece of Maple with a Walnut finial. A few natural bug holes and the spalting really add to its character. The spalting is when the wood is beginning to decay. This causes dark lines and patterns in the wood that greatly enhance the beauty of the finished piece. The interior of the storage area is stained black. There have been 4 coats of polyurethane applied to preserve the beauty of the wood. The box sits on its wings and the center is suspended. This unique box is certainly a conversation piece.

It is just shy of 8" long, approx. 2 5/8" wide and 4 3/4" high with the finial.

This would make a perfect gift for anyone who appreciates a unique handmade piece. A great gift for a wedding, anniversary, birthday, hostess, or any occasion for that hard to buy for person on your list.

Care: Not to be submerged in water or put in the dishwasher.
Simply wipe with a damp cloth and dry

As with all of my pieces, this was hand turned by me in my workshop in Normal Illinois. I acquire my wood from downed trees due to storms, city removal of trees, etc. I never take the life of a tree simply for my own purposes.
