Ocean retailer Wave Print 22x30 Lino Cut

My take on an interlocking Japanese wave pattern showing waves and whitecaps rolling and crashing into one another. The carved lino is printed 8 times to create the full image. As such, each print is different and unique. Suites minimalist and simple rooms with modern finishings and brings a bit of natural scenery into your home.

I try my best to make sure the printing is done as carefully as possible, hopefully lining up each wave with the next to create one seamless image. In reality, mistakes and imperfections work their way into each print, giving the full image retailer a distinctive character and honesty.

I carve each of my blocks by hand and print them on German-made Hahnemuhle Copperplate Paper (300gsm) using a hand press. To make the repeated pattern, I first draw a light grid on the paper to line up each print with, hopefully ensuring one wave tumbles into the next. For ink, I use speedball block printing ink. The print is available in various colours, but in my opinion, looks best in dark blue.

To ship, the print is rolled, and packaged in a plastic-lined cardboard tube. Multiple prints can be shipped together as a single package.
