Vintage Oil Bottle and Pot - Glass and Silver retailer Plate

retailer A really interesting, and somewhat mysterious pair of items, featuring 'dimpled' metal trimmings on glass bodies.

The bottle seems likely to be for oil rather than sugar, as the spout is quite narrow, but we can't be sure. There is also a ring attachment on the top - we've no idea what that would have been for! The cap and base appear to be silver plate, but there are no marks so we can't be sure. There is a petal-like shape to the edges, with a rope pattern around the base. Both top and bottom slide off the glass bottle.

The pot is similar, but lacks the petal design. Instead the rope design features on both the top and bottom of the two metal bands, which again look like silver plate. These do not slide off easily and there are signs the rim of the glass could be damaged, although that's not easy to see as it's masked by the metal band.

Interesting and attractive pieces with an array of uses.
