This artsy pottery piece is slab built from a stoneware clay body retailer and various textures applied while the clay was still wet. The pot was bisque fired, then placed into a fire pit with a bed of sawdust, leaves, seaweed, and other combustibles and a wood fire built on top.

The beautiful copper red blush color is from fuming of the natural minerals and burnables in the firing.

This type of primitive firing leaves the pieces porous. Created for decorative use, this piece would look fantastic with a mixed bouquet of dry flowers.
