retailer c. 1900's Sweet English Staffordshire parrot figure by William Kent (Novelty Works) in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. Depicts an earthenware bird with chromatic wings, perched on a moss-laden tree stump. Decorated ‘in the round' with over-glazed enamels. Base (underside) shows vent hole. In good condition with expected wear, surface crazing & ‘scratch' to back. There are three glaze loss “flakes” to the base—visible in photos. Has a kiln (made in production) ‘shrinkage line' under beak. Consistent with age of 120 years & use. “Polly” is just perfect for your mantle, bookshelf or birdcage display.
