Large 15 X 60 inches (38.100cm X 152.40cm), washable Silk, permanent colors

Bonnie Gordon-Lucas' Silks are individually HAND PAINTED by using a mixture of liquid and powdered permanent Silk colors
(for instance: grey + black + turquoise) These combinations migrate to create depth, texture and pattern (the Artist's proprietary technique)

Before painting, Bonnie's silks are suspended on a wooden stretcher (like a trampoline). After painting, the material is washed and designs become permanent

Paintbrushes and human hands produce jewel-like colors and effects

Subtle highlights and texture make the heavenly silk fabric shimmer in any light, day or night

Burn out patterns are accomplished when a protein based fiber (Silk) is combined with a natural cellulose based fiber (Rayon)
The material is treated with an acid gel that dissolves the cellulose, leaving a semi transparent pattern
The Silk fibers are not weakened by the acid

Such Easy Care: Hand wash in cool water and a mild detergent. Roll in a towel to remove excess moisture. Hang or iron to dry

Silks transcend all seasons. Fabulous in the summer to balance an over active air conditioner or a cool night
