This 1940s French round shallow pan would be used to make side dishes for an individual such as a potato dauphinois. A gratin dish is typically shallow for cooking through the food evenly in the oven. It could also be used for sauces, or serving aperitifs.
It has the makers mark and Courbevoie written around it in between the handle ends.
The pan measures: 12 cm (4 3/4 inches) in diameter, with the handles is measures 17 cm (6 5/8 inches) wide. It is 2 cm (3/4 inch) deep
This is a vintage item from the 1940s. There is patina of use, particularly on the inside where much of the original tin lining has worn off. The iron handles are solid, with little dots of copper on top of the rivets. There is some wear to the copper (see picture 10).
